shown by the certificate of naturalisation dated the 13th day of November, 1884 and the certificate dated the 4th day of December, 1884, certifying that the said Samuel Isaac Perry had on that day taken and subscribed the Oath prescribed in Section 10 of ActXXX of 1852 of the Government of India, which two certificates are exhibited to your Memorialist's Statutory Declaration in support of this Memorial.

5. Your Memorialist has resided within His Britannic Majesty's Dominions at the Colony of Hong Kong aforesaid since the month of February 1888.

During the last five years of such residence your Memorialist has on three occasions been absent from the said Colony of Hong Kong namely in the years 1917, 1919 and 1920 for the period of from two to three months. These periods of absence were the occasions of making visits, in 1917 to Cheefoo and Shanghai and in 1919, and

1920 to Shanghai only in connection with your Memorialist's health. Your Memorialist does not recollect the exact dates between which the above trips were taken or the actual length thereof respectively but is able to and does say that none of them exceeded three months in

duration.

6. Prior to settling at Hong Kong your Memorialist was resident on the China Coast at Newchwang, Cheefoo and Foochow for 16 years in all.

Your Memorialist is possessed of such a knowledge

of the English language as enables him to read it and to

converse therein fluently.

8.

In the event of this Memorial being granted, your

Memorialist intends to continue to reside in His

Britannic Majesty's Dominions at Hong Kong aforesaid.
